Narrogin hosts an eight-race card on Friday night and here are my best bets for the meeting.

Race 1 - WORLD BOURBON DAY 3YO WESTBRED MS PACE (1823m) – 8:36pm AEST

Zane Anthony was excellent on debut wit a second behind All The Bells over the 2242m at this track. The 3YO gelding drops back to the 1823m and should be able to find the pegs. I think he will lead but it’s hard to be confident when trainer Peter Anderson has runners in barriers one through to five. Driver Deni Roberts has improved her driving craft with plenty of country drives and Zane Anthony looks hardest to beat. Adda Tarantella looks the main danger despite the poor draw and Triple Brie has claims.

My Rated Price: $2.50

Race 2 - BEEF & BOURBON STEW 3YO+ MS PACE (2242m) – 9:07pm AEST

Serpentine trainer Matthew Scott has two good chances in the race with Clares Fool in barrier three and Glens Of Tekoa in nine. Glens Of Tekoa is the class runner and should be fighting out the finish. I think bookmakers are underestimating the Robin Donnell-trained Bailey Major from barrier two as the 4YO gelding looks the most likely leader. Either that or he may trail Clares Fool. Fifth at his past two starts, the latest was a 9.5m defeat behind Writing On Thewall when beating home Clares Fool. Represents excellent value here.

My Rated Price: $6.00

Race 3 - RWWA FEATURE SERIES 3YO+ WESTBRED MS PACE (2242m) – 9:36pm AEST

A competitive Level 5 event and there are plenty of winning chances. I have Murphys Bettor on top and I think the Ross Olivieri-trained 4YO gelding can work to the breeze and run a strong race. That is what driver Mitchell Miller did last start and he was narrowly beaten by Watch Me React which is fine form for this race. He was third two starts ago behind Illusionation and Universal Major in another good run. Euphoric Moment is one of the key dangers and other major players are Allwood Glow and While They Pray.

My Rated Price: $2.90

Race 5 - WINTER WARMER MEALS 3YO+ SS PACE (2636m) – 10:36pm AEST

A stand over 2636m that has an odds-on favourite in the form of Carramar Philemon at $1.75. He is definitely the horse to beat but horses can do things wrong from the stand. It is rare that I will support a horse off a massive handicap, but happy to do that with Hillbilly Time who has 80m to contend with. He will require them to walk during the race in order to make up the significant ground; he was beaten 10.3m by Carramar Philemon last start and will have to give that horse a 70m advantage once again. Despite the huge handicap, Hillbilly Time looks over the odds if things go his way.

My Rated Price: $8.50

Race 6 - BREAK OF SEASON 3YO+ MS PACE (2242m) – 11:05pm AEST

Jilliby Navajo is the horse to beat and the odds-on quote is no surprise from barrier two as he should lead throughout and prove hard to catch. There is some chance Hilo Angus can cross early which opens the race up if that occurs. Highview Sadler always requires luck in his races but he can run home strongly off the right run and happy to have something on at $26 here. Lindsay Harper drives for trainer Peter Anderson and Highview Sadler doesn’t look the second-rank outsider to me here. I can make a case for most of them if Jilliby Navajo doesn’t perform his best or is crossed with Allamericanallstar and Tactile Sensation the exceptions.

My Rated Price: $10

Race 8 - QUICK PICK UP 3YO+ MS PACE (2242m) – 12:15am AEST

Frosty Arm Chair has been placed in five from nine starts and heads to Narrogin in an attempt to break the duck-egg. She has raced in stronger maidens at Pinjarra recently and this looks a more suitable race. Expect her to work around to the death seat to sit outside of Emu Boy or Rocko Fitz. Emu Boy makes his debut so not sure how good he is yet while Rocko Fitz flopped after being heavily backed. His trial form was strong for maiden company so could run well and also looks over the odds at $8.50.

My Rated Price: $1.90
