TAB REVIEW
TAB is Australia’s most recognised bookmaker and we offer an independent review of the TAB brand.
About TAB
TAB is part of the largest wagering company in Australia with over 2.5 million customers betting on racing, sport and Keno.
Tab is run by Tabcorp who is Australia’s leading wagering operator and is an ASX listed company. Their portfolio of brands includes tab.com.au, TAB, Keno, Trackside and Sky Racing.
Originally established as a Victorian-based wagering operator in 1964, the TAB’s 600 plus retail outlets made it the most recognisable wagering brand in Victoria. Tabcorp acquired Tab Limited, the New South Wales-based wagering and media company in September 2004, extending its reach across the eastern states of Australia, and now runs the two largest totalisator pools in Australia.
With a customer base of over 2.5 million in NSW, Victoria and the ACT, TAB is the largest betting brand in the country and employs over 3000 workers.
As well as establishing an attractive and competitive online service, the Tabcorp network includes 1,948 retail outlets in NSW and 622 in Victoria, as well as offering on-course betting at 255 racecourses.
Trackside
For those punters that want nonstop betting action, Trackside may be just what they are looking for. Trackside is an animated racing product that simulates thoroughbred and greyhound racing and their bet types. There is no reason to worry about protests, correct weight, track conditions or jockey errors, and players are simply betting on a computer generated outcome. With fixed returns available on Win, Place, Quinella, Trifecta and First 4 Trackside gives customers the chance to win real money on fantasy races.
Trackside adheres to the betting rules in Victoria and New South Wales and is available to play online or at Victorian and New South Wales TAB outlets.
Odds and Markets
Being the largest wagering operator in Australia, TAB offers an extensive range of markets on all three codes of racing, domestic and international sport and overseas racing. Fixed odds and tote betting is available on thoroughbred, harness and greyhound races, while sports punters have access to thousands of markets on AFL, rugby, soccer, tennis and much more.
Their odds across all markets are highly competitive, and as well as being a reliable and trusted company to wager with, Tab offers a unique benefit to Exotics Bet punters.
With the TAB totalisator pools being the largest in Australia, Exotics payouts are generally bigger, and if there is no winner in a certain Trifecta, First 4, Big 6 or Quaddie, the pool is carried over to another race which significantly boosts the winning dividend in the jackpot race.
Successful punters in that jackpot race then stand to share in thousands of dollars extra.
TAB app
The TAB mobile app is undoubtedly one of the best on the market and is jam-packed full of unique features. As with any other betting app, punters can place a range of bet types on racing and sport with speed and ease. But the one thing that really separates the TAB app from its rivals is its association with Sky Racing. Punters can place a bet and then watch the thoroughbred, harness and greyhound action live on their PC or mobile device. Unfortunately, due to contractual agreements, Victorian and NSW thoroughbred racing vision is not available but punters can still listen to the race. International racing vision is also available on Sky Racing 2 which essentially gives punters viewing pleasure 24 hours a day.
Bet on the go with the TAB betting app
The app is smartly divided into ‘Racing’ and ‘Sport’ on the home page which gives users quick access to the markets they are looking for. A quick tap on ‘Racing’ shows the day’s thoroughbred, harness and greyhound meetings, while tapping on ‘Sport’ shows a list of sporting events that are available to bet on. The apps are simply to navigate and super quick to place a bet with.
Live Streaming
As mentioned above, TAB’s live streaming of racing is a real bonus to any account holder. Having quick access to watch racing on the go adds to the thrill of the race experience and is most convenient. The streaming quality on Sky 1 is first rate, but international racing on Sky 2 suffers from latency and can be a bit intermittent. Considering the restrictions on Victorian and NSW racing vision, along with the less than perfect vision on Sky 2, the lives streaming scores a solid 6/10. However, considering rival betting agencies have far less live streaming of racing available, a TAB account is a must have for any racing fan.
Customer Service
TAB offers a range of customer service options that suit both speedy answers and general enquiries.
Those seeking urgent assistance can contact TAB on 131 802.
The best way to contact customer service is through the TAB Customer Service Online Help Centre. You must be logged into your account to use this feature and you can also track the status of your questions and Withdrawal & Betting Statement requests.
