Blue Diamond the focus for Brooklyn Hustle

  • Brooklyn Hustle is a star talent
  • The Filly blew her rivals away at Moonee Valley
Brooklyn Hustle.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner, Brooklyn Hustle put her name firmly at the top of the list of early season two-year-olds, with a breathtaking victory at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The Jason Warren-trained filly had trialled impressively and was well backed from $7.50 into $5.50 but took everyone by surprise with the nature of her win, including Betfair punters.

The filly reached 860/1 in-play at the 600m with Betfair, showing just how unbelievable her victory was. According to The Rating Bureau’s Daniel O’Sullivan, Brooklyn Hustle is only the second two-year-old since August 2016 to come from more than eight-lengths off the lead at the 600m to win.

She has pulled up well from her dominant win on Saturday, with trainer Jason Warren telling Sky Sports Radio “She came home, she ate everything Saturday night and trotted out lovely and sound Sunday morning. It’s just a matter of wrapping her in Cotton wool now and getting her there (to the Blue Diamond).
“We’ve got both eyes firmly focused on the Blue Diamond. She’ll have one run and go into the race now that she’s got enough prizemoney to get a run.”

According to Anthony Mithen from Rosemont Stud, her likely first-up assignment would the Blue Diamond Prelude, before contesting the $1.5 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes a fortnight later.
