Gloucester Park hosts a 10-race card on Friday night and the back half of the program looks to offer value.

Race 5 - MOUNT EDEN SPRINT MS PACE (1730m) – 10:32pm AEDT

The Group 2 Mount Eden Sprint sees a capacity field of 12 line up and Argyle Red will lead from the inside barrier with The Bucket List racing on his back. Speed Man, Major Pocket and Our Corelli are all potential breeze horses, although I don’t think Speed Man would hand up the breeze to Major Pocket in this grade. THE BUCKET LIST will require luck racing on the pegs. If he sees any daylight, then expect the Michael Brennan-trained 10-year-old gelding to flash home late. The price looks good for The Bucket List. Motu Premier is a strong contender along with Argyle Red and Speed Man.

Race 6 - MAUREEN CLEMENT MEMORIAL MS PACE (2130m) – 11:02pm AEDT

King Of Swing has held out Thereugo before and he is clearly the horse to beat as Mad Robber will take a trail. Walkinshaw or Four Starzzz Forsa are likely to race outside of the leader. I won’t be surprised if Thereugo restrains at the start and waits for a more suitable race to lead. MAD ROBBER is a huge place chance in the field of eight and he was runner up last start when facing the breeze and finishing 2.3m away from Hot Fraternity. As long as he is behaved, Mad Robber should be running second or third behind King Of Swing. Mister Ardee has place claims from barrier five.

Race 7 - CHRISTMAS PARTY PACKAGES FROM $89 AT GLOUCESTER PARK FILLIES & MARES MS PACE (2130m) – 11:30pm AEDT

Arma Indie has barrier three which will make it interesting as Parisian Partygirl and Tajie Baby are capable leaders. Parisian Partygirl may surrender to Tajie Baby early. ROSIES IDEAL is one of the class horses of the field and she narrowly missed last time at Pinjarra against Ana Afreet.

That was her second run back from a spell and she is over the odds in this race due to her versatility; she can head to the breeze or make a single run in the final lap. PARISIAN PARTYGIRL has been racing well this preparation and from barrier one, she has definite claims in the race. Expect her to go close and happy to back her also. Tajie Baby opened a big price and if you are inclined on backing several horses in a race, the $13.00 is still a bit long.

Race 8 - MELBOURNE CUP LUNCHEON AT GP MS PACE (2536m) – 12:00am AEDT

A Level 12 race over the longer distance and my figures have OVERBOARD AGAIN a clear favourite. He will be looking to lead over the longer journey and Ace Bromac may relinquish as his form is moderate compared to Overboard Again. Overboard Again has finished second at his past two; once last prep and once this campaign as he races second up here. His last win came over Eden Franco and Campora which is strong form for this race. He will be extremely hard to beat if leading but still has strong claims not leading. Shockwave is the other key hope in the race.

Race 10 - MONDO DORO ITALIAN FIREWORKS NIGHT FRI NOV 1 MS PACE (2130m) – 1:05am AEDT

Carrera Mach gets his chance to break through for a win, however, there are certain horses that you don’t want a piece of at an odds-on quote and this horse fits that description. WHITBYS GAMBLE is likely to attempt an all-the-way win and trainer Hayden Reeves has been in fine form over the past month or two. Whitbys Gamble won an easier race five starts ago when leading as an odds-on favourite. Her form is okay and she normally performs better when leading so expect her to give a bold sight. Sea Me Smile, Carrera Mach and Sergeant Oats have a similar racing pattern and they can all win this race with the right run too. Smaller hope to Twilight Saga.
