Shoe thrown at runners during race at Gloucester Park

A shoe was thrown at runners during a harness race at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

In dramatic scenes, as the field made their way up the straight in Race 6, a white shoe can be seen being through from the grandstand and landing on the track.

No horses were injured or harmed by the shoe launched onto the track.

Many fans took to social media to show their shock at the incident, which is alleged to have involved former AFL star Rhys Palmer.

The ex-Fremantle Dockers, GWS Giants and Carlton player is now back in his native Western Australia playing WAFL footy and some Twitter users named him as the individual to have thrown the shoe.
