International Jockey's Challenge - Hong Kong

Australian rider Hugh Bowman has been installed a warm favourite to take out the International Jockey’s Challenge to be run at Hong Kong’s Happy Valley track on Wednesday night.

In a star-studded line-up, Bowman heads the brigade at $3.25 in early markets as he takes up the challenge for Australia against riders from right around the globe.

The host nation is well represented as they field 25% of the riders with Australian born Zac Purton flying the Hong Kong flag as he is joined by Karis Teetan, Vince Ho and new member of the team Matthew Poon.

Group One winning rider Ryan Moore heads the British invasion and is a $7.00 second favourite and will ride the John Size-trained Bank On Red in the final leg of the challenge who is the $4.70 favourite for the race.

The USA’s representative Javier Castellano has bagged 108 Group One victories with the Hall Of Fame 41-year-old looking forward to playing a leading hand with his four rides on the night.

Reining champion Zac Purton will be all out to go back-to-back but will need to produce something special with two of his rides at double figures in their respective races.

The Championship is held over four selected races during the meeting with races 4,5,7 & 8 as the events on Wednesday’s card.
