  • Loving Gaby looks well-placed in Saturday's Group One Champagne Stakes (1600m)
  • Hear from her co-trainer David Eustace
Loving Gaby.

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Loving Gaby has been luckless in both the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper this preparation and looks well-placed in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) on Saturday.

The newest Group One winning trainer David Eustace spoke to Michael Felgate on RSN 927’s Racing Pulse on Tuesday morning, hopeful of another Group One victory on Saturday.

“The mile is only going to bring the best out of her and so is racing, we’ve always been of that opinion and that’s why she hasn’t gone to the paddock,” Eustace said.
“She’s come through the Sires’ really well, she found the line good that day and it (Champagne Stakes) does look a nice race for her.”

Loving Gaby has been very well supported in All-In markets and is currently a $3.00 favourite with Beteasy, with Castelvecchio on the second line of betting ahead of the James Cummings-trained Filt.

The Maher & Eustace team will have a runner in both Group One’s on Saturday, with the progressive Naantali making a huge jump in grade to tackle the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m).

“She’ll run, it’ll be the last run of her prep, which has been very tough and very consistent. She’s just improved throughout the prep and it was a good win the other day.” Eustace said on Naantali.

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace team has the most interesting horse of the day at Bendigo on Tuesday. The two-year-old daughter of Zoustar, Exquisite Beauty has been backed as if unbeatable in early markets, from $7.50 into $1.90.

“I don’t know whether people have seen what we haven’t. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a nice filly.
“We’re very hopeful of her running well. She’s a big, strong filly, she’ll travel. You never quite know what they’ll find off the bridle. If her manners are right she’ll run a big race.”
