Godolphin filly - Lyre

The Godolphin-owned filly Lyre has plummeted in Blue Diamond markets after a strong win in Saturday’s Group Two Blue Diamond Prelude.

The Lonhro filly was as much as $26 for the Group One Blue Diamond Stakes prior to Saturday’s Prelude, and now, after her solid winning performance, she has tightened right into $6 with Sportsbet

She jumped well enough in the 1100m contest however due to her wide draw (12), jockey Damian Lane couldn’t cross and was caught three-deep trailing the second of the Godolphin runners (Athiri) to the turn.

Both Godolphin horses then set out after race leader Vinicunca who fought on like a caged tiger to take second prize, with Athiri a half length away in third place.

Race favourite Catch Me was bitterly disappointing in the run, sitting behind the leaders to the turn, then weakening badly to finish almost seven lengths back in third-last place.

Bookmakers have also reacted to the Team Snowden filly’s poor performance seeing her price blow like a cyclone for the Blue Diamond, from $4 to $13 with Sportsbet.

Loving Gaby, winner of the Group Three Chairman’s Stakes, is now at the top of the market at $3.80 with Sportsbet.

In the colts and geldings prelude, Anthony Freedman made it a Prelude double with I Am Immortal leading all the way.

Despite the gritty victory, the I Am Invincible colt remains steady at $8 with Sportsbet for the Blue Diamond.

Bookmakers did react to the minor placegetters however with Shotmaker ($15 into $8) and Hawker Hurricane $51 into $10 with Sportsbet.
