Victorian trainer Patrick Payne has set two horses from his stable for a trip to the Gold Coast to tackle the Magic Millions Carnival.

Husson Eagle will contest the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) while Zizzis will line up in the Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) for the three-year-olds this Saturday.

Husson Eagle is no stranger to the Aquis Farm track after finishing unplaced there in the Magic Million Sprint (1200m) behind Target In Sight back in 2017.

Since then, the Husson gelding has become a prolific placegetter, finishing in the minor spoils six times and has a win in the Mildura Cup on his resume as well.

Payne gave both horses their final hit-outs in Sydney and was pleased with their efforts.

"They seem in really good shape," Payne said.
"Husson Eagle is in good form this preparation.
"I think he's looking for 1400 metres now and I think Zizzis is going OK.
" She had a little freshen-up and I thought she ran pretty well in Sydney last start considering the stage of her preparation."
Husson Eagle is currently a $17 chance in the MM Cup with Sportsbet while Zizzis sits at $21 for the MM Guineas.

Meanwhile Payne is preparing to chase another feature race, this time in Melbourne where he will saddle up Chamois Road for a tilt at the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on the same day.

The Choisir gelding will be out for revenge after finishing second in the race last year behind Burning Front. The six-year-old is a last winner over 1410m at Flemington just before Christmas and will need all of that winning form on Saturday as he will cart topweight of 60kgs in the event.

Payne is confident he can come through it with his fitness.

"Fitness-wise and the way the horse is he's exactly the same as last year, he's definitely not any worse, but the difference is he will be up high in the weights this year.
"He's come through his last run really well and he normally runs up to his best. But just weight-wise he'll be giving a bit of weight away to the other runners."

Michael Dee is booked for the ride and he will be out to break his hoodoo on the gelding after riding him seven times before without success.
