Punters have come for the Tony Gollan-trained filly Sugar Boom in Saturday’s QTIS two-year-old Jewel (1200m) at the Gold Coast.

While The Odyssey remains a firm $2.40 favourite, TAB have reacted to recent support for Sugar Boom which has seen her price tumble from $11 into $4.20, leaving her a solid third elect behind stablemate Perudo at $4.

The Spirit Of Boom filly came under plenty of media attention at her only race start when she finished second behind Miss Cavallo after leading by more than three lengths passing the 100m mark.

A $61 chance, Miss Cavallo came from near last to run down the $1.50 favourite who went into the race winning both trials she contested.

Stablemate, Perudo has had two starts, winning his maiden on debut by four lengths then a close-up second behind Niedorp after his first look at 1200m.

The Odyssey won the colts and geldings Jewel Prelude in fine style, putting 2.5 lengths on the second placegetter Ready To Roam and in doing so, covered his last 600m in a swift 33:24.

Gollan has made a gear change for Sugar Boom which sees the filly wearing a tongue tie for the first time in the $500,000 event.
