  • What are the next targets for the major players out of the action from Flemington on Derby Day?
Where will Osborne Bulls line up next?

Feature racing was at Flemington on Saturday November 3 for one of the biggest days on the calendar, Derby Day.

With some more Group 1 action to come in the next week, we take a look at where the major players are headed next.

Race 1 - The Carbine Club Stakes (1600 METRES)

1st- Ranier. Likely to have a spell and come back for some of the Autumn features including the Australian Guineas (1600m).

Race 2 - Mumm Wakeful Stakes (2000 METRES)

The majority of the Wakeful runners will go to the Kennedy Oaks (2500m) on Thursday November 8, including the exacta horses- Aristia (1st) an Qafila (2nd) as well as the Wakeful favourite, Verry Elleegant (5th), who shares equal favouritism for the Oaks with Aristia. El Dorado Dreaming (3rd) will have a spell.

Race 3 - The TAB Stakes (1200 METRES)

1st- Osborne Bulls. The barnstorming winner might back up in race in the Darley Classic (1200m) on Stakes day. The long term target is the Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and a possible trip to Dubai next year for the Al Quoz Sprint (1200m).

Race 4 - Lexus Stakes (2500 METRES)

1st- A Prince Of Arran. We will see him in the Melbourne Cup (3200m) on Tuesday November 6.

The big names from the Coolmore Stud Stakes are all likely to head to the paddock and they are Sunlight (1st), Zousain (2nd), Lean Mean Machine (3rd) and Written By (4th).

Race 6 - Empire Rose Stakes (1600 METRES)

1st- Shillelagh. Small chance that she will race in the Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on the last day of the carnival. Is entered for the Railway Stakes (1600m) at Perth and the Kingston Town Stakes (1800m).
11th- Amphitrite. Is going down the same path as Mosheen in 2012, jumping from the 1600m of the Empire Rose Stakes to the Crown Oaks.
12th- Ooohood. Will have a spell and be back for the autumn.

Race 7 - 3:50PM AAMI Victoria Derby (2500 METRES)

We can expect the majority of the Victoria Derby runners to go to the paddock for a break, including the winner Extra Brut and the pre-race favourite, Thinkin' Big.
