Ballarat

I’m firmly with my colleague and RBOTD author Aaron Hamilton in declaring the Lindsay Park-trained Maktabba as the standout bet of the day at Ballarat on Thursday.

Race 2 - 1:30pm Craigs Royal Hotel F&M Maiden Plate (1100m)
As mentioned, the Lindsay Park-trained runner MAKTABBA is the clear standout on an otherwise tricky day of racing at Ballarat. The two-year-old daughter of Per Incanto raced some top class two-year-olds over the Summer months, running fourth behind Lady Lupino and Lady Naturaliste on debut at Moonee Valley, running the fastest last 600m and 800m of the entire meeting on that night. She went to The Valley again and sat wide with no cover in a race that was controlled from the front by Alburq and it took the extremely talented Yes Yes Yes to get past him. Maktabba ran another very nice fourth and was spelled after that run. Her recent trial on the Pakenham Synthetic was outstanding, she led at a moderate gallop and when asked for an effort at the 200m, she responded and powered away under riding the last 100m to win by 4.5 lengths in the quickest time of the morning. She gets Jamie Kah on from barrier six and this looks an easy kill for her. Anything above $2.00 seems like very good value and with a good parade, I’ll be willing to take anything in the $1.80-$1.90 range.
