Ballarat Tips July 16 - Saone looks a class above at Ballarat

Ballarat

Racing on Tuesday is at Ballarat, for an eight-race card on the synthetic track. On what looks a very tough meeting, Lindsay Smith brings two horses to the races and they both should be winning.

Race 3 - 2:00pm Interpath Maiden Plate (1400m)
The Lindsay Smith-trained SAONE looks a class above her rivals here and should be winning this barring bad luck. She was $6.00 into $3.10 on debut at Bendigo and barrier 16 proved costly, as she was forced to settle back and wide, as the winner and Metro performed Spirit Medium controlled the race from outside the leader. She flew home when the race was all over, running to the third and running the 10th-fastest last 600m of the meeting, second-fastest last 400m of the meeting and fourth-fastest last 200m of the meeting on debut. The step-up to 1400m can only be a positive and she gets a far better map from barrier six with Dean Yendall on board, who did ride her in a trial victory before her debut. Trainer Lindsay Smith is airborne and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a leading trainer in Melbourne in 12 months. He has had 10 winners from his last 50 runners with a positive ROI of 74.1 percent. He has seven runners in Melbourne from his new Warrnambool base for three winners and a 100 percent Profit On Turnover. Saone looks a classy horse and her opposition appears limited, she looks a moral.
