Race 6 - 4:00pm Dwyer Racing F&M BM70 Handicap (1100m)
The Robbie Griffiths-trained MOSSBELLE looks very hard to beat at a nice price here. She went to The Valley last start and she simply went too quick in front. She took on Judy For Disguise for the lead and they went 10.5 lengths above benchmark to the 600m, which gave both horses no chance to be in the finish. I thought her effort to stick on for fourth (beaten 2.4 lengths) was outstanding, while the other co-leader Judy In Disguise dropped out to finish last, beaten 6.6 lengths. I love the jockey change, with Nathan Punch off and Jamie Mott on from barrier three. He can either lead on the mare or sit just off Atlantica, who should roll forward from barrier six. My only concern is that she is slightly flat off that run but I’m happy to take the chance at the price. The Jason Warren-trained Trilli is the warm favourite for the race and does look the hardest to beat. She failed to win in five starts last preparation but did run good races behind the likes of Causeway Girl, Propelle and Tatiara. She returned with a quite trial behind Sweet Rockette at Cranbourne, she crusied into fourth and was never asked for an effort but I do wonder how forward she will be off that trial. Her last first-up run rated 2.6 lengths below the class benchmark and that doesn’t look enough to beat home Mossbelle. She is the class but I’m willing to risk at the price.
