Looking for tips for Saturday's horse racing at Gawler Racecourse? Our form analysts give you the best bets for a profitable day of punting.

The redevelopment of Gawler Racecourse was completed in 2010 with the track boasting an 1840m circumference and a home straight of 300m compared to its previous straight length of 200m.

Gawler Tips - January 12

Race 1 - 2:37PM Z Wines Handicap (1500 METRES)
TABLE OF WISDOM is a standout on times and weights, and more importantly, he’s still on the up and should be ready to peak now. Second-up he won on a Good 3 over 1500m at Gawler in a time of 1:30.49, yet third-up he ran quicker time (1:30.12) on an inferior track (Good 4) at Gawler with the same weight. He now drops 3.5kg and meets rivals that are running slower times at the track and trip. There’s no early pressure here and Table Of Wisdom can control the speed from out in front before winding up and kicking clear early in the straight.

Race 4 - 4:37PM Coopers Handicap (1200 METRES)
Columbia got things to suit last start with Irish Mint and OMARU OWL setting a genuine tempo while Columbia angled off their backs with an uninterrupted run and finished best to score. However, this race maps differently with the only early speed being with Go The Journey and Omaru Owl, and I can’t see Go The Journey trying to hold the lead second-up while carrying 5kg more than Columbia and Omaru Owl. I think Omaru Owl will cross Go The Journey and try and stack them up, and that will leave Columbia three pairs back on the fence. He meets Omaru Owl 2kg worse at the weights, and with a slower early tempo predicted, he may struggle to pick them up.

Race 8 - 6:50PM Possum Creek Vineyard Handicap (1200 METRES)
Danger Deal will be met with support here but the fact his only two wins have come when first-up is a concern. Trupt also looms as a winning hope but will be rearward and needs everything to go his way to be winning. The form around KEMALPASA looks strong and he’s been very consistent of late with a win and four placings from his past six starts. I’ve got a good opinion of Poet’s Landing who is unbeaten in two starts, and Kemalpasa nearly got the better of him last start at Morphettville. He drops 2.5kg on that run and there was a big space back to Yulong Star in 3rd place, and that galloper defeated Vietti two starts back, and Vietti scored a soft win at Gawler last Saturday. All the form stacks up and Kemalpasa is weighted to win.

Previous Gawler Tips:

January 5

Race 4 - 4:21PM Kingsford Hotel Handicap (1500 METRES)
I’m really looking forward to seeing CANFORD again as he seems to have come back a much better racehorse this time around. He indicated that was the case in a recent barrier trial and then found strong market support and got the job done first-up. He’s better suited over the longer trip, he has a class edge over these, and Jamie Kah sticks with him. Best of the day.
Result (unplaced)

Race 5 - 5:01PM Terrace Function Centre Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
VIETTI trialled magnificently last campaign but bumped into some smart ones finishing behind Assertive Play and Thorondor in her first two starts. After a lengthy break, she trialled nicely and was narrowly beaten by Yulong Star at Morphettville when first-up over 1050m after sitting three wide without cover on the speed while the stablemate had a much softer run and chimed in at the right time. Jamie Kah will give her every chance from gate 2 and she has a bit of fitness on her side now.
Result (1st - $1.70)

December 15

Race 2 - 1:11PM COOPERS DRY HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
CHUCKY goes up 1kg as he jumps from a maiden win to BM70 grade, but I think he’s up to it. He won by 1.5 lengths but ran two lengths quicker than the BM60 later in the day at Gawler, and that win at the track holds him in good stead for Saturday’s event. First Diamond looks the clear leader and may prove hard to run down while No Joy maps poorly and may need a bit of luck. Chucky is likely to settle at the rear and build on the turn before using his strong finish to power of the top of them.
Result (4th)

Race 3 - 1:46PM TERRACE FUNCTION CENTRE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Jamie Kah has jumped off Arctic Blaze who won at the track and trip last start and will partner the Ryan Balfour-trained TRUPT who drops in class and looks hard to beat. Her first four runs this time in were average but her last two in BM75 company at Morphettville have been encouraging and she gets back to Gawler where she is unbeaten in two starts. Kah has jumped aboard for four of her 33 runs and scored three wins on her so it’s a jockey change worth noting.
Result (3rd)
