Hamilton

The track is a Good 4 and the rail is in the true for an eight-race program at Hamilton on Tuesday. It looked a very tricky card and not one I’m too keen to get involved in but I thought Linda Meech holds the key to race six.

Race 6 - 4:00pm Fringe Benefits by Tim Cogger BM58 Handicap (1200m)
The three-year-old daughter of Makfi OCEAN TWELVE defied a big market drift first-up for 158-days at Echuca, opening $6 and starting as long as $15 but really attacked the line to run over the top of Carmen Sandiego, who pushed a handy city horse Snapdancer at her previous start. I thought that was solid form, so I was surprised to see her drift again last start at Ballarat, opening $17 and starting upwards of $34. She ran according to the market, finishing second-last but did improve her overall benchmark figure by 3.3 lengths. She drops back from 1400m to 1200m now which I see as no disadvantage and I would be surprised if she doesn’t settle further forward with Linda Meech on board and the blinkers going on for the first time. She should be fit third-up and as mentioned, gets a very positive jockey change from H.Coffey to L.Meech, despite Coffey riding in terrific form of late. Looking at the dangers, Dash Of Pash didn’t do much on the clock last start but did run third behind Bronski Girl who I have a decent opinion of. I thought Bel Robbie looked way too short in the market but I will respect any money from that stable and I’m happy to risk Serena On Court.
