Hawkesbury and Moree Tips May 23 - best bets for NSW racing on Thursday

Aaron Hamilton in Free Tips 23 May 2019
  • Confidence rating: 85% both
  • Suggested stake: 2 units to Win on each selection

NSW racing action comes from Hawkesbury and Moree on Thursday, and I’ve found a couple of value chances that can surprise.

Here are my best bets for Hawkesbury and Moree today:

HAWKESBURY:

Race 7 - 3:50PM BLACKTOWN WORKERS CLUB F&M CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
I’m willing to forgive MOANA JEWEL for finishing 10 lengths near last first-up for new trainer Tracey Bartley. The four-year-old daughter for Ocean Park was coming from the tail and trying to push clear to issue a challenge, but she clipped heels and nearly fell and then stopped trying – a complete forgive run. If you looks at her Melbourne form where she was 2nd to Platinum Angel second-up over 1400m and then six lengths from Iconoclasm and five lengths from Fifty Starts over 1400m, she clearly has the strongest form in Thursday’s event. The mare clearly has talent but also has some issues. When she finished behind Fifty Stars, she was dropping out in the straight and looked gone, but when she got to the outside she absolutely motored home and clocked the quickest final 200m of the race and the eighth quickest of the meeting. I don’t think she likes racing inside horses so am hopeful of Joshua Parr getting her to the outside at Hawkesbury where she can topple them late.

MOREE:

Race 4 - 2:55PM WESTPAC RESCUE HELICOPTER SERVICE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
Quite an open event but HARADIFY is at absolute peak fitness six-up and has been improving each start this preparation and looks set to break through. The booking of Terry Treichel to ride from barrier 1 is a positive and with fitness on this horse’s side, I can see him holding a forward position behind the speed before challenging early in the straight and letting his fitness prevail. On benchmark ratings, Haradify rates clearly above his rivals, and with a few positives and a sense of timing, he should be too good.
