NSW Racing Tips May 26 - Best selections for Nowra and Muswellbrook Sunday

Steve Bennett in Free Tips 25 May 2019
  • Two hot chances for NSW racing today
NSW racing at Nowra & Muswellbrook Sunday

Clear skies will shine over both NSW tracks today. I fancy one of the three mares to take out the Nowra Cup today while at Muswellbrook Bjorn Baker and Greg Ryan team-up again and look the goods in the second-last of the day.

NOWRA

Race 7 - 3:46PM COUNTRY MOTOR COMPANY NOWRA SHOWCASE CUP (1600 METRES)
She’s one of only three mares here and has drawn the car park, but the Matt Dale-trained RAPTURE MISS has the resume to put her in the mix here. Last campaign she showed plenty of class when winning the Country Classic at Rosehill. Kerrin McEvoy rode her a treat and guided her to what ended up a comfortable win in the 2000m event. Last start she was second-up (after five months in the paddock) and was disgraced when finishing fourth (beaten a length) behind Flying Pierro over 1600m at Kembla Grange. Her third-up record is excellent with a win and two runner-up prizes from three runs. The most successful rider on her back is Kate Nisbet who returns to partner the mare here today. Two wins and two minor placings from five rides speaks for itself. Her biggest challenge is the wide gate but if she can cross early for a sit with cover, she will be amongst them at the finish. She is a solid each-way chance here.

MUSWELLBROOK

Race 6 - 3:30PM BHIMA THOROUGHBREDS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
A little disappointing this time in, the Bjorn Baker-trained KORRAWI will be looking to go one better than start here and return to the winner’s circle. Resuming from a five-month spell, the three-year-old filly lacked dash in her first two runs at Orange and Wellington until she lined up at Nowra where she fought on well, but was swamped near the line and finished fourth, beaten only half a length. Then last start, she showed further improvement when finishing second behind Trophies Galore here over 1280m. She has drawn the fence here and with those four runs behind her, it should be a case of third time lucky for Ryan as he is legged aboard again.
