Having won a maiden and BM58 from just four starts, the three-year-old Dundeel colt tackled the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) last start and firmed from $11 into $8.50.

He settled at the rear throughout before making a long, sustained and wide move around the field on the home turn and running away from Cossetot and Aramayo to score by 2.25 lengths.

He covered 11m more ground than the runner-up who lines up in opposition on Friday night, and he also ran the quickest 200m splits from the 800m to the finish.

With only two runs over 1420m and 1800m under his belt, Global Exchange has plenty of upside and looks perfectly suited stepping up to 2040m now.

The fact he looped the field on the bend at Caulfield and then ran away in the straight gives me every confidence he’ll be able to do the same at The Valley and he won’t need a long straight to run them down.

His victory over Aramayo lines up well with Stars Of Carrum who beat Aramayo in the Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) in October last year.

Stars Of Carrum was unlucky two starts back but really disappointed in the Australian Guineas and it will be hard to turn that form around despite being better suited over the longer trip.

Play Me Now and Vigere where impressive last start winners and have upside, but Global Exchange is proven at this level and looks like a genuine Group 1 horse in the making.
