For a horse that had struggled to produce a positive benchmark (BM) figure in his first 13 starts, Bianco Nuovo resumed this campaign over 1400m and posted a massive PB going 8.9 lengths above BM when defeating Mean Mister and subsequent Group 2 winner Oceanex.

He then went to Flemington over 1600m and was a bit one-paced finishing 3rd behind Wetakemanhattan who won the Horsham Cup at his next start.

A step up to 2000m last start saw Bianco Nuovo go 6.5 lengths above BM as he finished 4th behind the in-form Double You Tee who has won four of his last five, as well as Blandford Lad who was coming of consecutive wins and Tavistock Dancer who has since finished runner-up at The Valley.

So, all the form around Bianco Nuovo looks strong, and he now heads into The Valley assignment fourth-up over 2000m having had a perfect fitness grounding over 1400m, 1600m and 2000m.

The son of Artie Schiller is a natural pacemaker, and blinkers have been exchanged for a visor which is basically blinkers with a slit in the side of the cups so the horse can see other horses coming from their side and slightly behind.

This is a great gear change for leaders that need to see the opposition coming so they can lift and fight.

Bianco Nuovo’s last start BM rating is clearly the highest in the field, as is his PB performance.
