Having been ridden by Michael Walker in his first five starts, which included wins at Kilmore and Caulfield, Oliver jumped aboard last start but had to settle for 3rd place in what was an eye-catching run at Mornington.

Tavistock Dancer jumped last and settled there in the small field of seven, but as the leader stacked them up and went 13 lengths below benchmark (BM) to the 600m, Oliver was facing an uphill battle to get his mount over the line first.

He took off early, as the rest did, and after coming five wide on the bend and covering a stack of ground, he rattled home to finish 3rd behind Rube Bridges and Tour Down Under, while he was also the only horse to break 12 seconds for his final 200m when clocking 11.96.

Rube Bridges has franked that form with a 3rd placing in the $100,000 Pinker Pinker (2025m) at Cranbourne, and Tour Down Under flew home for 3rd at Moonee Valley behind Egyptian Gold and Naivasha.

In two runs at Caulfield, Tavistock Dancer has recorded a win over 1800m, as well as a 9th placing behind Tinkermosa which may look average, but it was a career best BM rating performance as he went 8.1 lengths above BM.

He now gets back to his home track and drops 4kg on his last run, and with a bit of speed on up front, Oliver will be hoping to get to the outside and overrun them late.

Tavistock Dancer should be at peak fitness with four runs under his belt, including his most recent over this trip, and he looks hardest to beat with even luck.
