Roughies Tips - 3 Roughies to back at Eagle Farm and Flemington on Saturday May 25

The Group 1 action continues at Eagle Farm on Saturday May 25 for the running of the Kingsford Smith Cup (1300m), while in Melbourne, races are at Flemington.

We have looked through the fields at the respective venues and picked out the best three roughies to back for the day, each-way.

Eagle Farm Race 6 - 2:15PM KIRIN BRC SIRES' PRODUCE STAKES (1400 METRES)
The two-year-olds line up in the BRC Sires Produce and GARIBALDI looks to be a solid player at nice odds. The Tony Gollan-trained galloper finished 4th behind Dubious in the recent Champagne Classic (1200m) and wasn't far behind the likes of Strasbourg and Czarson. That pair are among the favoured runners in this market. In that lead up, Garibaldi didn't enjoy the best of runs in the early to middle stages but finished off very well and the step up in trip looks right up his alley. He is likely to get back from the gate but will be strong at the end and was an Eagle Farm winner earlier in the year.

Eagle Farm Race 8 - 3:35PM TAB KINGSFORD-SMITH CUP (1300 METRES)
The feature of the day at Eagle Farm is the Kingsford Smith Cup and in a wide-open betting race, ENCRYPTION can make his presence felt. The Godolphin galloper has bee trimmed in from $21 to $17 in early markets and is one of three in the race from the powerful stable. The three-year-old is no stranger to racing at the highest level. He was runner-up in the Oakleigh Plate (1100m) earlier in the year and chased well behind Nature Strip and Pierata in the Galaxy (1100m). Interestingly, he has had six weeks in between runs and comes in with a couple of trials under his belt. He will be suited by the big field and likes to get back, while the 1300m shouldn't hold too many concerns. He has drawn well and with the experienced hoop, Corey Brown, on board, it will be no surprise to see him feature at the business end.

Flemington Race 9 - 4:40PM Furphy Ale Plate (1100 METRES)
The three-year-olds tackle the Flemington straight in the last event of the day at headquarters and TEQUILA TIME will be out to bounce back after finishing a distant last at Morphettville when resuming. We can all but forget that run as his saddle slipped and he went to the line untested. He strung together four wins at the venue at his last campaign and was placed at Group 3 level before spelling. He is a second up winner previously and if he can handle the straight he should go very close. Michael Poy claims the 2kg on the son of Stratum and should settle handy to the lead.
