Racing is at Caulfield on Saturday July 13 for a nine-race programme that features the John Monash Stakes (1100m).

We have looked through the fields and picked out the best three roughies to back for the day, each-way.

Race 7 - 2:50PM Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap (1200 METRES)
Race 7 is for the fillies and TELL ME gets her chance after a series of unplaced performances. Things haven't exactly gone the way of the Team Hawkes galloper in recent times. She battled at Listed level in the Denise's Joy Stakes (1100m) at Scone before dropping in class and botching the start when travelling wide en route to running 4th at Rosehill behind Wagner. She came to Caulfield on June 29 and overraced before being held up when 4th to Voila. She should have no excuses this time from barrier 4 and will get a nice run just off the speed. The 2kg claimer, Michael Poy, takes the ride and the pair can fight this one out.

Race 8 - 3:30PM Ladbrokes Sir John Monash Stakes (1100 METRES)
The feature of the day is the Listed Monash Stakes and PRINCESS OF QUEENS can make her presence felt at the each-way quote. The Mick Price-trained mare has has three runs this time in and wasn't too far back when 10th at Group 1 level in the TAB Classic (1200m) when resuming before running on for 4th in the Proud Miss Classic (1200m). She was sent for a crack at the Golden Topaz (1200m) at Swan Hill before getting too far back when finishing 8th to Crown Fontein. She generally takes a few runs to get going in her preparation's and earlier this year she looked good when taking out the Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield ahead of the likes of Fuhryk and I Am A Star. The key to her chances here is the likely fast pace with Oak Door and Jungle Edge likely to push forward and the race could be set up for the swoopers.

Race 9 - 4:10PM Ladbrokes Multiverse Handicap (1700 METRES)
We close out with a BenchMark 90 and an interesting contender is the Chris Waller-trained MASTER SHUHOOD, who steps out for his second preparation in Australia. The former import had two runs in the autumn, winning at Mornington over the 1600m when resuming before chasing steadily when 4th at Sandown behind All Too Huiying. He was put away after that performance but has since tuned up with a couple of trials, placing in both. He should be an improver at his second preparation down under and with the Chris Waller polish it would be no surprise to see him right in the thick of the finish in this race.
