Sale Tips August 15 - Two value chances at Sale

Sale

Thursday’s racing is at Sale, with a massive ten-race program on a Soft 7 track with the rail out 6m. My two bets bookend the program, I will also be backing Somethingaboutharry (R3) and Shepard (R5) if they get back out to even money or longer.

Race 1 - 12:30pm Ladbrokes 3YO Maiden Plate (1110m)
The Shane Nichols-trained MISS HARRIETTE is a horse I’ve followed throughout her first preparation and I’ve got to tip her again. She just got too far back on debut at Flemington, running the third-fastest last 200m of the race over 1000m behind Mockery and she was one of only three horses to break class benchmark for the final 600m. She stayed at Flemington at her next start, she bumped Flit at the start, got onto heels when going for a run and almost fell but picked herself and really savaged the line. I was keen on her last start at Sandown and she was obviously at the end of her preparation, as she was immediately spelled after that run. She returned at the Cranbourne trials 10 days ago and although she was ridden out, I really liked the way she picked up over the final 100m to run second behind Brooklyn Hustle. Z.Spain on from barrier 10 doesn’t give me the most confidence in the world but we are getting the price to find out. The three-year-old son of Zoustar, Zoushack is the obvious danger. Lindsay Park thought enough of him as a two-year-old to contest a strong race at Randwick on debut behind Anaheed who also has Flit form.

Race 10 - 5:00pm Ladbrokes Odds Boost Exotics BM64 Handicap (1110m)
I thought the seven-year-old gelding BOOZE FREE was well over the odds in the last race on the program. He was first-up from a 79-day spell last start at Cranbourne behind the talented Germanotta and although he did start $51 and got the perfect run through the field, he savaged the line, running the fastest last 200m, 400m and 600m of the entire meeting. Second-up last preparation, he contested a race over 1112m here at Sale in a Benchmark 58 and was second, beaten less than a half-length. You only have to go back to last preparation, where he finished fourth at Sandown behind Music Bay to see that this horse has ability and $19 in post 9am markets seems a silly price. Much like race one, C.Symons from barrier 10 doesn’t fill me with confidence and the Lindsay Park horse Maktabba is the horse to beat but Booze Free represents the value at a big price.
