Race 2 - 12:50pm Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Plate (2000m) - LUCKY FOR ALL ($2.80)
Darren Weir looks to have a strong hand in this race, with his leading hope being LUCKY FOR ALL. The immature four-year-old is still learning what racing is all about. He wanted to have a look around when he got to the front last start at Caulfield, allowing Danon Roman to come back on his inside. When that runner levelled up at the 75m mark, he accelerated again. Danon Roman gets a 2.5kg weight swing but Lucky For All may be too progressive. He has won both his career starts over 2000m, including a three-length victory over stablemate Furrion. This is his first look at Flemington and he should enjoy the wide open spaces. He should stay out of trouble from barrier seven and looks hard to beat.

Race 3 - 1:30pm Watch Springtime Stakes (1400m) - RINGERDINGDING ($3.90)
The clear standout is the Darren Weir-trained RINGERDINGDING. Weir said he didn’t try two starts ago (when we tipped him) and changed up his training methods. That obviously worked because he was the only horse besides Winx to make any ground more than three horses away from the fence on Cox Plate Day. He ran straight past Bleu Rouche in the straight, who has since won down the straight on Oaks Day. He ran the fastest last 200m (11.82s), 400m (23.54s), 600m (34.91s) and 800m (45.79s) of the race. He will give them a start, going back from barrier 12 but should be flying home over the top of Yulong January.

Race 5 - 2:50pm Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) - JAAMEH ($4.80)
The Lindsay Park galloper JAAMEH looks the class of the field in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He hasn’t put a foot wrong at Flemington, with two wins and two placings from four starts at the track. His two placings were a second (beaten a short half-head) behind Avilus who started $14 in a Melbourne Cup. His other placing was a third in the Lexus Stakes (2500m) behind Melbourne Cup placegetter A Prince Of Arran. He looks well weighted, only 2kg off the minimum and looks hard to beat.

Race 8 - 4:55pm Seppelt Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) - BLAIR HOUSE ($2.15)
We could be approaching the fatal ‘M’ word here with BLAIR HOUSE. Charlie Appleby has again conquered Australia, winning our most prestigious race for Godolphin. Another Australian Group 1 looks likely for Appleby, with Blair House who looks like a moral. Two starts ago he missed the start but charged into fourth in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m). The six-year-old went toe-to-toe with Benbatl last start, going down by the narrowest of margins. He easily beat Humidor who ran into third. Those two horses ran second and third behind Winx in the Cox Plate (2040m) a fortnight ago. You won’t get better form than that. He has been targeted for this race and maps perfectly from barrier two, providing he jumps with the field. With all things being equal, he should go very close.
