Racing is at Randwick on Saturday October 19 for the running of the Everest (1200m), while at Caulfield, the feature is the Caulfield Cup.

We have combined our best bets from the two venues into a four-leg multi that pays $960 for a $10 investment at sportsbet.

Randwick Race 5 - 2:50PM THE KOSCIUSZKO (1200 METRES)
The Kosciuszko is regarded as the Everest equivalent for the country gallopers and is worth $1.3 million in prize money. NOBLE BOY (Place) steps out of the first time this spring and is clearly the one they have to beat. The five-year-old from Queanbeyan has had nine starts for seven wins and is two from two when first up. In the autumn he resumed with an easy win at Warwick Farm before eventually taking out the Country Championship (1400m) at Randwick during The Championships. He has been kept up to the mark with two recent trial runs, winning the latest of those by a big margin at Goulburn and has drawn to get the run of the race from barrier 4 with Hugh Bowman to ride.

Randwick Race 7 - 4:15PM THE TAB EVEREST (1200 METRES)
The Everest shapes as an absolute beauty and there are plenty of star studded contenders in action. I am going with the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained mare SUNLIGHT (Place) to go very close to scoring a minor upset by taking out the $14 million affair. The four-year-old is in the prime of her career and comes off a last start effort that saw her defeat one of the favourites for the Everest in Santa Ana Lane. That occurred at Flemington when she did all of the work in the lead down the famous straight before holding Santa Ana Lane at bay. Both horses will take improvement out of the run but conditions might pan out for Sunlight with the way the Everest could unfold. She has drawn barrier 6 and can tuck in behind the leading bunch that should include the likes of Nature Strip and Redzel. Santa Ana Lane and Pierata may need an ounce of luck after drawing on the inside of Sunlight. Some may point to Santa Ana Lane's dominant performance in the T.J.Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick as the best guide for this race but Sunlight should be better suited on the drier ground and can take out the worlds richest race on turf.

Caulfield Race 9 - 5:15PM Stella Artois Caulfield Cup (2400 METRES)
I may very well be going with my heart and not my head in the first of the spring majors but we can make a serious case for the old warrior, HARTNELL (Place) in the $5 million feature. In what would be a memorable win, the nine-year-old comes into this with some excellent form having run in the top four in his past nine races. They include a 3rd to the mighty Winx in her farewell in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) in the autumn as well as a recent 3rd in the traditional lead up to the Caulfield Cup, the Turnbull Stakes (2000m), earlier this month. The obvious downside is that he meets the likes of Finche and Vow And Declare worse at the weights but he has handled that in the past with his 2018 Epsom (1600m) win a recent example. The likes of Best Solution, Dunaden and Viewed are others that have carried similar weights to victory in the past 10 years. The versatile galloper is one from two over the 2400m with that win coming way back in the 2015 BMW aka the Tancred Stakes. He will need an ounce of luck from the barrier but it is very hard to leave him out.

Caulfield Race 10 - 5:50PM Schweppes Tristarc Stakes (1400 METRES)
The Godolphin mare, POHUTUKAWA (PLACE), lines up in the final event of the day at Caulfield, which is a Group 2 over the 1400m and once again she looks to be right in contention. The consistent performer endured a series of luckless runs at Group 1 level in the autumn but was able to break through for a win at Group 3 level in the Kembla Grange Classic (1600m) before closing out that campaign with a runner-up performance behind Invincibella in the Group 1 Tatts Tiara. She resumed with a fast finishing 4th at Newcastle before again working home solidly to finish runner-up in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on October 5. She will settle towards the rear in this race and with swoopers coming into play late in the day at Caulfield, she is a solid place contender.
