Seymour Tips April 15 - Ex-Weir galloper can win first-up

  • Seymour racing preview
  • Suggested Stake: Lady Makfi 2 units to win
Seymour.

Victorian racing is at Seymour on Monday and it looks a tricky eight-race program. I’ve found a favourite who I believe is vulnerable in race six and I’m looking to take her on with an Ex-Weir galloper who is first-up.

Race 6 - 4:00pm Seymour Toyota BM58 Handicap (1000m)
I’m happy to take on the odds on favourite Heavenly Bridges with the ex-Weir galloper LADY MAKFI. Now trained by Robbie Griffiths, the four-year-old mare is first-up for 200 days but I’ve seen enough to suggest she is forward enough to run a very big race. Her jumpout at Cranbourne on April 8th was very impressive, she won the jumpout under a strong hold, defeating the Cindy Alderson-trained Turn The Tide who had strong form around Beauty and Petrelle at his last preparation. First-up last preparation, Lady Makfi started $4.00 and ran fourth behind the metro performed Gaelic Dream. As mentioned, I’m looking around the Henry Dwyer-trained Heavenly Bridges. Although she was impressive last start, she led and controlled the race at Yarra Valley, an on-pace track and she was $7 out to $10 on that day. The race hardly rated through the roof and the 51 days between runs poses more questions. I couldn’t step into the $1.70. Jye McNeil is the best jockey in this race and I’m confident he can control the race from barrier four aboard Lady Makfi.
