Sunshine Coast racing at Corbould Park Sunday

A dry track sets the scene for a Paul Jenkins-trained mare to return to the winner’s circle today.

Race 7 - 4:55PM Q ADVERTISING Class 5 Handicap (1800 METRES)
The lightly-raced mare PICKA PLUM will be out to avenge her first-up loss this preparation and looks ideally placed to do just that today. Just seven career starts for the Falkirk mare and all of those have been run right here at Corbould Park. Her only failure was on debut in a maiden but she improved dramatically from that, winning her next five starts on the trot. Just prior to hitting the paddock for a nine-week holiday, she couldn’t have been anymore impressive when beating home a Class 5 field over 1800m. That day she put two lengths on them and since then, two of the beaten brigade have gone on to win. Resuming from that break, she crossed from her wide gate (11) to lead the BM80 field. The five-year-old looked like going on with it, but her condition gave out in the final 50 metres with Advanced Warning grabbing her on the line. That was a mighty effort, first-up over the 2200m journey. She drops back to the 1800m here where she is unbeaten at the track and trip. She will strip much fitter for that first-up effort and looks the pick of the day here.
