Terang Tips November 19 - A ratings standout at Terang

Terang

Racing is at Terang on Tuesday for an eight-race program on a Soft 5 track with the rail in the true position. I found it a tough meeting to provide a best bet for but the Henry Dwyer-trained Elegist should be going close in race four.

Race 4 - 3:00pm TAC Towards Zero Maiden Plate (1000m)
The Henry Dwyer-trained ELEGIST looks hard to beat in a maiden that looks to drop away quickly after the first few leading chances in the market. The four-year-old gelding beat a very good trialler in Bold Type before his debut run in a Cranbourne trial but was sent the paddock after that trial. He resumed and started $2.90 on debut and ran poorly behind the likes of Polanco and Favourite Things. He stepped back from 1200m to 1000m last start at Pakenham and improved his benchmark rating by 18.2 lengths, producing a last 600m that was 10.9L above the class benchmark. The race rated highly so it’s no surprise that the form from the races has been strong. The winner Unicorny has since won a benchmark race at The Valley, the third-horse Touch Of Paradise bolted in her maiden and the fifth horse won his next start at Yarra Glen. Looking at the dangers, I wasn’t impressed with the jumpout of Snifter and Italian Witness although gets the blinkers back on, was average at best at Mount Gambier last start, although I will respect any late money. The horse the money has come for is Madlenka. She started a $2.90 favourite on debut at Ballarat on the synthetic and ran second-last. Her SP and recent victory in a jumpout here at Terang, winning the heat untouched suggests she is better than her debut performance and I’ll be saving on her.
