Catalyst is favourite to win the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.

New Zealand three-year-old gelding Catalyst is the $2.50 favourite to win the Australian Guineas. Trained by Clayton Chipperfield, Catalyst was a last start second behind Alligator Blood in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m). He is $2.50 to turn the tables in the Guineas.

Alligator Blood was narrowly beaten in the Caulfield Guineas in 2019 and will be aiming to go one better in the Australian Guineas. He is $3.10 for Sunshine Coast trainer David Vandyke and comes off a narrow victory in the CS Hayes Stakes.

The Michael Moroney-trained colt Alabama Express is third favourite at $6.50. Chasing a hat-trick of wins, Alabama Express was victorious in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) last start.

Chenier for trainer Anthony Freedman is $7.00 following his third placed effort in the CS Hayes Stakes. He was beaten 1.1 lengths by Alligator Blood.

Superstorm is next best at $15 ahead of Dalasan at $16.
