Caulfield Stakes Nominations
Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield has attracted 12 nominations.
Star four-year-old entire Russian Camelot will be all the rage after trainer Danny O’Brien nominated him for the Caulfield Stakes. He was a dominant winner of the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) last start. Prior to that win, Russian Camelot was enormous when narrowly beaten by Fierce Impact in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m).
Russian Camelot looks an exciting staying prospect and he stamped those credentials back in May when capturing the Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m) at Morphettville.
Arcadia Queen was third in the Underwood and gets another crack at Russian Camelot. Trained by Grant and Alana Williams, the five-year-old mare has raced 12 times for six wins, including the 2018 Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot.
The Chris Waller-trained eight-year-old gelding Humidor finished second in the Underwood Stakes. That was his second run for the preparation. His first run saw him defeat Surprise Baby in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) at The Valley on September 5.
Al Galayel, Kings Will Dream and Orderofthegarter are other key nominations.
