The Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) will be run at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
Odds for the 2022 Coolmore Classic will be available when markets are set. Below are the odds from 2021.
Last start Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m) winner Forbidden Love is the $6 favourite to capture the Coolmore Classic. The three-year-old filly was a dominant winner in the Surround Stakes as she defeated Vangelic by three lengths.
Forbidden Love captured the Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m) in December and has won five of her 11 career starts. She has drawn well in barrier three with Nash Rawiller to ride.
The Archie Alexander-trained four-year-old mare Chaillot is second favourite at $8. She has won four of seven starts, including the Group 3 Tressady Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on February 27. During the spring, Chaillot was fourth in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m). She finished just behind Forbidden Love who was third in the event.
Four-year-old mare Icebath is the third elect at $9. Prepared by Brad Widdup, Icebath has been third at her past two starts in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Guy Walter Thoroughbred Stakes (1400m).
Remaining runners are in double figures with Subpoenaed, Rich Hips, Vangelic and All Saints’ Eve all $12 chances.
