Cox Plate Odds 2020 – Almond Eye opens favourite

Almond Eye is the $5.00 favourite to win the 2020 Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley.

Trained by Sakae Kunieda, four-year-old mare Almond Eye has a tremendous record at the time of writing with seven wins and a third from eight career starts. She won the Grade 1 Tenno Sho (2000m) by three lengths on October 27.

Almond Eye has also claimed the Group 1 Dubai Turf Sponsored by DP World (1800m) and Grade 1 Japan Cup (2400m) amongst other victories at the top level.

At $6.00 is defending winner Lys Gracieux for trainer Yoshito Yahagi. The mare claimed the Cox Plate by 1.5 lengths at the age of six when ridden by Damian Lane.

Castelvecchio was runner up in the Cox Plate as a three-year-old carrying 49.5kg. He is $13 to go one better in 2020.

Te Akau Shark was the other placegetter and the New Zealand gelding is $15.

Arcadia Queen, Funstar, Magic Wand, Mystic Journey, Shadow Hero, Harbour Views and Melody Belle are all $21 chances.
