George Ryder Stakes Nominations
The Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) nominations will be announced on March 14, 2022.
This page will be updated following the nominations release. Below are the nominations from 2021.
Grant and Alana Williams-trained five-year-old mare Arcadia Queen is the biggest nomination for the George Ryder Stakes. She missed last Saturday’s All-Star Mile (1600m) after being scratched on vet’s advice for lameness. At her first up run, Arcadia Queen was second in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) won by Probabeel who could only manage a 12th-placed finish in the All-Star Mile.
Trainer Chris Waller has nominated four-year-old mare Funstar and five-year-old gelding Kolding for the $1 million feature race.
Kolding has raced three times this prep for a pair of seconds at Group 2 level before running fifth in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) won by his stablemate Verry Elleegant.
Funstar finished fourth in the Chipping Norton and was also fourth in her prior start in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m).
See below for the full list of nominations for the WFA feature.
