Golden Rose Stakes Final Field & Barrier Draw
A final field of nine has been announced for Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens following the barrier draw on Tuesday morning.
Impressive Run to the Rose (1200m) winner Rothfire has drawn toward the outside in barrier 8 for jockey Jim Byrne and trainer Robert Heathcote.
The son of Rothesay has won seven from eight career starts with his only blemish being a 2nd placing behind Kisukano at the Gold Coast.
Rothfire camped off a hot speed set by Farnan in the Run to the Rose and finished off strong to win by 1.5 lengths from the Hawkes-trained pair Ole Kirk and North Pacific who will jump from gates 3 and 6 respectively on Saturday.
Other Run to the Rose competitors to contest Saturday’s main event include Peltzer (4th), Mamaragan (6th) and King’s Legacy (7th).
Chris Waller will saddle up last start Dulcify Stakes (1500m) runner-up Global Quest and Canterbury maiden winner Sauvestre, while Dulcify Stakes 5th placegetter Yardstick is the only runner for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
