The James Cummings-trained colt Anamoe is set to be sent out as a dominant Golden Rose favourite; the colt is currently a $1.90 favourite. He was a dominant winner of the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m). Anamoe’s two-year-old season saw him race seven times for three wins, two seconds and a third.
Resuming as a three-year-old, Anamoe was a narrow winner of the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) defeating In The Congo.
Anamoe jumps from barrier eight and has James McDonald in the saddle.
Second favourite at $8 is the Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained three-year-old colt Remarque.
He finished third in the Listed Rosebud (1100m) before also finishing third in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) won by Anamoe.
Remarque has drawn barrier five and will have jockey Hugh Bowman riding.
The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained three-year-old colt Artorius is another leading Golden Rose contender and currently a $9.50 chance. Winner of the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) in February, Artorius finished sixth in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m). Anamoe was third in the Blue Diamond and second in the Golden Slipper.
Artorius has raced twice this campaign for a pair of seconds at Group 3 and listed company.
In The Congo is next best at $10.
