Golden Slipper Stakes Barrier Draw & Final Field
The 2022 Golden Slipper Stakes barrier draw will be announced at 11am on January 20, 2022.
This page will be updated when the field is declared. Below is the final field and barriers from 2021.
Colts and geldings occupy 10 of the 15 positions in the $3.5 million event, while five fillies have also made their way into the rich feature.
Sydney’s leading trainer, Chris Waller, has three runners in the race including last Saturday’s Pago Pago (1200m) winner Shaquero.
Kerrin McEvoy rode the son of Shalaa to victory last start and will retain the ride as the pair jump from gate 15.
Waller’s other hopes rest with Home Affairs who was 3rd behind Anamoe in the Todman Stakes (1200m), and O’President who has won his last two starts including a win over Hilal in the Skyline Stakes (1200m).
Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) winner Artorius will aim for the rare Blue Diamond/Golden Slipper double, and he comes into the race fresh having not raced since his impressive victory.
James Cummings is represented by Todman winner Anamoe and Ingratiating who both finished 3rd and 2nd respectively behind Artorius in the Blue Diamond.
Anamoe jumps from the outside gate (16) and is likely to go back in the field before making a late dash for victory.
