Makybe Diva Stakes Nominations

Makybe Diva Stakes Nominations

Group 1 racing returns to Flemington on Saturday with 20 nominations taken for the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m).

Last year’s surprise 100/1 winner Gatting has been entered by comeback trainer Peter Moody who took over training the son of Hard Spun from Perth horseman Darren McAuliffe.

Gatting finished last of 13 in the Memsie Stakes in his first run for Moody and on that performance should be similar odds to last year.

The Memsie Stakes is generally a good launching pad into the Makybe Diva Stakes, and in 2020 we see So Si Bon (5th), Harlem (7th), Princess Jenni (8th) and Gatting come through the race.

Perfect Jewel is the only last start winner among nominations and is one of two entries for Grant and Alana Williams who have also entered Arcadia Queen.

Danny O’Brien has a strong group of nominations with reigning Melbourne Cup champ Vow And Declare and 2020 Melbourne Cup favourite Russian Camelot resuming for their spring campaigns.

Other entries for O’Brien include Adelaide Cup (3200m) winner King Of Leogrance, VRC Oaks (2500m) winner Miami Bound and the promising Orderofthegarter who has finished runner-up in all three runs in Australia.
