Manikato Stakes Final Field & Barrier Draw
The barrier draw for Friday night’s Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) has been announced with a field of 11 set to compete for $1 million in prizemoney.
Moir Stakes (1000m) winner Pippie aims for back-to-back Group 1 victories at The Valley and has drawn ideally in barrier 1.
The speedy daughter of Written Tycoon led throughout to score by 0.8 of a length ahead of Trekking (2nd), Bella Vella (3rd), Brooklyn Hustle (4th), Diamond Effort (5th) and Hey Doc (8th) who all line up again on Friday night.
Kementari hasn’t won a race since the 2018 Randwick Guineas (1600m) and now lines up from barrier 2 following an impressive 4th placing in the Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.
The Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained Dirty Work comes into the Group 1 sprint as the only last start winner having narrowly defeated Diamond Effort in the Schillaci Stakes (1100m) which also included Hey Doc (4th), Splintex (5th) and Order Of Command (7th).
Lyre rounds out the field of 11 and is also looking to turn the clock back after failing to win a race since taking out three of her first four starts including the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).
