Memsie Stakes attracts 21 Nominations
Group 1 racing returns to Melbourne for the new season with 21 nominations being taken for Saturday’s $750,000 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Last fortnight’s PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) winner Savatiano is one of two entries for Godolphin trainer James Cummings who has also nominated Cascadian who was 4th in the PB Lawrence Stakes.
The rock-hard-fit Sircconi was runner-up to Savatiano last start and has been nominated for a rematch by trainer Nick Ryan.
Other entries to come through the PB Lawrence Stakes include: Kings Will Dream (3rd), Arcadia Queen (5th), Streets Of Avalon (7th), Mystic Journey (8th) and Regal Power (9th).
2019 Memsie Stakes runner-up So Si Bon has been entered to go one better in 2020 as he comes off a first-up 4th placing in the Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m).
Aurie’s Star runner-up Great Again is also nominated having failed to get a run at The Valley last Saturday when the last two races where abandoned.
Other than Savatiano, South Australian sprinter Behemoth is the only other runner to be coming off a last start victory this campaign.
The David Jolly-prepared son of All Too Hard produced a strong last start performance to defeat Dalasan in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.
