Moir Stakes Nominations
Friday night racing will be headlined by the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley which has attracted 17 nominations.
One of the main nominations for Friday night’s sprint feature is the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained three-year-old colt Hanseatic. Runner up in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) as a two-year-old, Hanseatic then finished 10th in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).
At his first run back from a spell, Hanseatic raced in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) where he finished fourth, beaten a length after racing back in the field.
John and Chris Meagher train five-year-old mare Pippie, the winner of the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield in February. She hasn’t raced since running sixth in the VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m) back in April.
The Tiarnna Robertson-trained six-year-old mare Fabergino has won nine races from 12 starts, including the Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) at Flemington and Group 3 Northam Stakes (1100m) at Ascot.
Godolphin’s Trekking is another important nomination for the Moir with the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) winner set to return from a spell for James Cummings.
