Ranvet Stakes Barrier Draw and Final Field
The Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) barrier draw will be released at 9:00am on March 14, 2022.
This page will be updated when the field is declared. Below is the final field and barriers from 2021.
A total of nine horses have been accepted to run in the 2021 Ranvet Stakes with defending winner Addeybb racing for Newmarket trainer William Haggas. The seven-year-old gelding has had 20 starts for 11 wins, including a brilliant last start victory in the Group 1 Qipco Champion Stakes (2004m) defeating Skalleti and Magical.
Five starts ago, the son of Pivotal proved too good for Verry Elleegant in the Ranvet Stakes and then once again, he was superior to the mare winning the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) by 2.8 lengths.
The Chris Waller-trained five-year-old mare Verry Elleegant has improved since the previous encounters with Addeybb. Since her defeats against the gelding, Verry Elleegant has won the Winx Stakes (1400m), Turnbull Stakes (2000m), Caulfield Cup (2400m) and Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m). All of those wins came at Group 1 level.
Addeybb has drawn barrier five with regular jockey Tom Marquand while Verry Elleegant has gate one with regular hoop James McDonald.
Colette and Sir Dragonet are key inclusions this week after not accepting to run in last week’s washed out meeting.
