Spring Champion Stakes Nominations
Saturday’s Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick has received 19 nominations.
Unbeaten three-year-old gelding Love Tap is one of the key nominations for this weekend’s Spring Champion Stakes. Trained by Richard and Michael Freedman, the gelding was impressive as an odds-on favourite as he led throughout to win by close to two lengths in the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m). Love Tap has won all four career starts.
The David Payne-trained three-year-old filly Montefilia could be Love Tap’s chief danger in the race as she could back up one week after winning the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m). It was the filly’s third career win from six starts.
James Cummings prepares three-year-old colt Choir. Five starts for one win, the colt broke his maiden status at start number four over 2050m at Moe on a Heavy 8 track.
Other nominations include Cherry Tortoni, Favreau, Wertheimer and Miravalle.
