Spring Champion Stakes Betting Odds 2020

The Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) will be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday, October 10. Here are the latest Spring Champion Stakes betting odds.

David Payne’s three-year-old filly Montefilia has surged into $2.80 favourite for the Spring Champion Stakes. She will race seven days after winning the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) against her own sex. She caused an upset defeating Hungry Heart in the race and Payne is confident the filly will relish the quick back up and step up to 2000m. She has also been victorious over 1500m at Rosehill Gardens.

Second favourite at $3.70 is unbeaten three-year-old gelding Love Tap. Trained by Richard and Michael Freedman, Love Tap boasts a perfect record of four wins from as many starts. He was a $1.70 favourite as he led throughout to win the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) by 1.8 lengths over Street Dancer and Bucharest who filled the placings.

Cherry Tortoni is the only other runner in single figures at $6. Patrick Payne prepares the gelding who has raced five times for three wins and two minor placings. Cherry Tortoni was third at Flemington in the Listed Exford Plate (1400m) and second in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) at The Valley.
