Winx Stakes attracts 20 nominations
A total of 20 nominations have been taken for Saturday’s Winx Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick which marks the return of Group 1 racing for the new season.
Last year’s 4th placegetter Avilius heads the list of nominations and returns as a seven-year-old following two soft barrier trials where he finished 4th of four and 10th of 10.

15 of the 20 entries are yet to race this spring, while the James Cummings-trained Flit and Chris Waller’s Imaging come of 2nd and 3rd placings respectively in the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m).
The Steve Tregea-prepared Niccanova also comes off back-to-back runner-up efforts at Doomben and Eagle Farm.
