Race 5 - 2:24PM VERDE BUILD ALBURY SPRINT CLASSIC OPEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
Locally-trained by Ron Stubbs, BOSS LADY ROCKS (best odds currently $3.40 with Palmerbet) is four starts into this preparation and looks well placed here for another top-line performance today. Last start, the Street Boss mare came off an impressive win in the Showcase Flat Knacker, here over the 900m sprint when she finished fourth against a BM72 field in city class company on a Heavy 9 at Randwick. Outclassed on the day she returns to country class opposition today and back on her home track where she has three wins and two runner-up prizes from her five starts on her resume. Her early gate speed sees her crossing to take a sit just behind the pace as Nick Souquet takes control for today’s contest. In peak fitness here, she will take a ton of beating in this company.
Race 6 - 2:59PM JINDERA TYRE SERVICE CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)
Wangaratta visitor FOREST DIAMOND (best odds currently $2.90 with Palmerbet) sees the Albury track for the first time today and three starts into this preparation looks right in the mix here. Last start, the Redwood filly was third-up at Bendigo where she showed a ton of improvement, breaking through for her Maiden win over 1600m. On a Heavy 8 that day, she came from behind to finish best and take home the chocolates. She ran her last 600m, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 3 lengths. The filly is drawn out today but is expected to drop back early for a sit. She should be at her peak now and dropping 2kgs today and looks a genuine threat to her rivals here.
Race 7 - 3:34PM MWS WEALTH PROFESSIONALS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1175 METRES)
Kilmore galloper POLLY’S DEFICIT (best odds currently $6 with PlayUp) is second-up today and ticks enough boxes to make her track debut a winning one today. Last start, the Danerich gelding wasn’t disgraced when lumping 62.5kgs to finish a close-up fourth in a BM58 Hcp over 1114m at Moe on a Soft 7 that day. She ran that out, 6.2 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up by 4 lengths. Nick Souquet has taken home minor prizes from both his previous rides on the gelding and has the job again today. Carrying 3kgs less, he looks solid winning chance at odds here.
