Here are our Bathurst Horse Racing Tips for today:
Race 1 - 1:50PM BATHURST RSL CLUB BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
Newcastle galloper HOLY TYCOON (best odds $2.40 with bet365) is on fire this preparation and with a major gear change here looks poised to strike again. Last start, the Written Tycoon filly made it a hat-trick of podium finishes this time in by winning a Port Macquarie Maiden over 1100m on a Heavy 8 that day. She ran her last 600m, 1.7 lengths slower than benchmark, the second-best here. Giving them a real galloping lesson, she recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals in her 2.5 length victory. Koby Jennings sticks with her today as she sees the Taree track for the first time. The runs are on the board for the three-year-old and she will take beating here.
Race 2 - 2:25PM HOTHAMS SAND, SOIL & GRAVEL 3YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE (1100 METRES)
Trained at Warwick Farm by Matt Smith, PYRAMID OF FIRE (best odds $2.70 with Unibet) is yet to miss a podium finish and having his third start today, he looks in the mix among these maiden class gallopers. Last start, the Sizzling gelding came from well back to finish third in a Goulburn Maiden over 1000m. He ran that out, 4.6 lengths slower than benchmark, a new personal best and the best in this field by more than 3 lengths. The extra distance suits today and he doe no early work from gate two. Jack Martin returns to the saddle after finishing second on him at Queanbeyan two starts back. Going on his results to date, he is right in this contest.
Race 6 - 4:50PM JB CIVIL CONCRETING CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Trainer Nick Olive makes the 250klm trek from Canberra today and on the float is SOJO (best odds $4.20 with Sportsbet) who is second-up here and hungry. Last start, the So You Think mare was fresh off a lengthy 33-week absence when she finished too strong for them in a Canberra Maiden over 1200m. With Billy Owen aboard, she set a new personal best, running the trip, 7.6 lengths slower than benchmark, the second best here while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Even fitter today, Owen sticks with her as she carries less weight and over the longer trip here, looks right in the mix.
