The Chris Waller-trained ZELIFY (best odds $3.70 with Palmerbet) has improved with every start this preparation and now, back in the winner’s circle, she looks poised to go on with it today. Last start, the Snitzel mare was third-up when she cleaned-up a Class 3 field over 1050m at Doomben, taking out the event by more than a length. She ran the trip, 1.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. James Orman was aboard that day and sticks with the mare for this contest. Orman boasts a 33% strike rate for the stable recording 25 winners to date. This is a big drop in class after three city runs and fitter for three runs, she should prove hard to hold out here.

Gold Coast galloper SIENNA’S AWARD (best odds $7 with Palmerbet) resumes today but ticks enough boxes to be considered a winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Shamus Award mare ended her last campaign finishing unplaced in a BM65 over 1350m at Ipswich. Nothing went her way that day, drawing the outside gate (11) and being caught wide the entire trip. To make matters worse, she clearly didn’t handle the heavy track and it all took its toll on her in the run home. She is fresh off a 15-week spell today and is already a winner when first-up. Also, all three previous starts at this track ended in podium finishes. Alannah Fancourt takes the reins for the first time today and from a good draw (gate 7), the mare is capable of giving this a real shake at odds.

Trained at Toowoomba by Kieran Kirwin, ULTIMATE POWER (best odds $11 with Palmerbet) is the top-rated runner here and looks a genuine each-way chance in this contest. Last start, the Lope De Vega gelding came off a hat-trick of minor-prize finishes when he took on a Class 3 over 1788m at Dalby where he finished mid-field that day. The Stewards noted that he was noticeably one-paced that day on the Soft 7 surface. Four starts in, he should be at his peak today as he makes his track debut. Ideally-drawn in gate two, he does no early work from there and after the claim, comes in nicely at the weights as he drops sharply in grade here. Placed three times from as many attempts at the trip, he looks a serious contender here and well worth an each-way ticket today.
