It is pretty hard to fault the Lindsey Smith-trained, ANDRESS ($2.80 with ladbrokes), in Race 3 of the day. The three-year-old has had two starts with both of those coming at Warrnambool earlier this year and was a narrow runner-up behind Coasting Along on debut, finishing ahead of Find Your Man, before again landing in that slot behind Home Rule over the 1000m. She produced the fastest last 200m on debut then found the 1000m a tad slick. She has been well supported in the market for her first run in five months.

PINDI PRIDE ($3.60 with Sportsbet) can go close in Race 6 of the day. The five-year-old was a winner in this grade over the 1600m at Moe on Soft ground four starts ago and has since tackles some harder races in town. At her last start she settled back in the field of 13 at Sandown in a BenchMark 70 over the 2100m and ran on fairly to finish 8th, beaten four lengths behind Nerve Not Verve. She went four lengths slower than standard benchmark in that run and in her other recent trip over the 2000m she went two lengths slower than standard when 5th to Carrie at Cranbourne. The grey galloper has a handy record on wet tracks and the 2kg claim for Logan McNeil gets her down to a winnable weight.
