Below is our guide to the best chances at Dalby today:

The Matt Kropp-trained WAIT A MINUTE (best odds $11 with Palmerbet) is second-up today and ticks enough boxes here to be considered a real threat to this field at odds. Last start, the Tycoon Ruler gelding was fresh off a 15-week break when he finished third in Open company over 1100m at Warwick. No stats are available for that run, however it was a big step up in class off his prior start where he ended his campaign in BM70 company. He is already a winner when second-up and a two-time winner at this track. Dropping in sharply grade today, he looks a touch ‘overs’ and a five-time winner at the trip, he is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

The Mark Currie-trained IDLING BY (best odds $2.80 with Ladbrokes) is also second-up here and has done enough to suggest she is the one to beat today. Last start, the Real Impact mare resumed off a 17-week absence when she after 11 previous attempts, she finally broke through for her Maiden win over 1200m at Toowoomba. Jumping from the outside gate (14), she was last to the turn then fanned five and six deep to haul them in and go on to score a solid victory. Fitter for the win, she draws much better today in gate two where she does no early work and the longer trip here looks ideal for her at this stage. She looks hard to toss today.

Warwick galloper ULTIMATE POWER (best odds $5.50 with Palmerbet) is yet finish unplaced from three starts this preparation and looks well placed here to keep that run going today. Last start, the Lope De Vega gelding was faced with a Heavy 9 at the Gold Coast when he finished third in the 1800m contest. He should be at his peak now after those three runs and boasting 18 podium finishes from 23 starts on wet tracks, he should be at home with today’s conditions. Georgina Cartwright has the reins for the fourth time and is yet to miss a top-three finish on boards the galloper. Ideally drawn in gate three, he gets the gun-run here and should prove hard to beat.
